A building that waits for dusk.
Poured concrete and warm travertine, held in one long shadow until the light inside finds its way out. Every room was built to be walked through at the hour the sun leaves it.

Entry
The stair is the building's spine.
A single skylight cut runs the length of the stairwell, so the travertine changes temperature with the hour rather than under a fixture. Nothing here is lit; everything here is daylit.
Detail
Where concrete meets stone.
Board-formed concrete against honed travertine, no reveal between them wider than a fingernail. The corner was drawn a dozen times before it was allowed to be this quiet.
The courtyard
A reflecting pool, and nothing else.
The courtyard holds one symmetrical pool and no planting. Water was the easier material to keep honest across forty years of weather.
