Earth, water, fire, and time.

Every piece passes through four hands and three weeks before it reaches your table. Here is what that looks like.

Thrown on the wheel

Each vessel is centred and pulled by hand from local stoneware clay. The wall thickness is judged by feel, never by gauge.

Dried slow, trimmed sharp

Pieces dry for a week under cloth so they do not crack, then the foot is trimmed and the maker's mark is pressed in.

Dipped in ash glaze

Our glaze is mixed from wood ash and local feldspar. Dipped by hand, it pools and breaks over every edge differently.

Fired to 1280 degrees

A thirty-hour firing in the gas kiln vitrifies the clay to stone. What comes out is food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and yours for life.

We are Mara and Tom, and we have shared one wheel and one kiln since 2016. We make what we want to eat off: honest, heavy, warm-toned stoneware with nothing to prove. Everything is made to order in batches of forty, so there is a wait, and we think the wait is part of it. When your box arrives it will smell faintly of the kiln, and one edge will be a little uneven. That is the hand that made it, still on the clay.
